Endoscope
Duncan got me interested in one. I bought one from Amazon for about $20. It comes with a DVD to load a program so you can put it on your computer. And.. you can take and save various photos of whatever you are checking out. The idea is to check out the condition of your barrel . Well .. haven't really given it a real trial but for $20 it at least works and will take me a while to come to a conclusion about it's value.
The one I bought has the smallest diameter camera end with six adjustable lights. You can adjust the brightness of the lights with a switch that is on the bit that connects to your computer.
I tried it in a CZ52 as an experiment.

Re: Endoscope
I wonder if Duncan is getting a kick-back on these.... I just got the same one today.
I have found that it won't go down a .22 barrel even though someone said it would. (Unless my .22 just has a tighter bore.... )

Re: Endoscope
It will fit in two of my .22's with room to spare . A third I tried it wouldn't go down with a quick try, an old J. C. Higgins and I don't know why it shouldn't. Here is a Remington Model 552. Pictures not exactly great...but I haven't played with it much yet. The light can be adjusted. Maybe if the breech was open.... don't know. I bought this one. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N4L ... ge_o00_s00

Re: Endoscope
I wish I was getting a kick back deadin
The one I bought was to see if it would give useful images and it did. I may buy another one with a better resolution now I have proved the theory, needs HD I think.
Keep taking the pictures guys

Re: Endoscope
OK, Tried it in several different of my .22's. It fit some and didn't others. Wouldn't pass any of my High Standards or Hartfords. Was fine in Stevens, Ruger and S&W. (I've got a Colt pre-Woodsman somewhere, but it wasn't handy for a quick test....)
I would imagine that it has to do with depth of rifling. .223 is bore (groove) diameter while land diameter is dependent on groove depth. (i.e. .303 British is a land diameter while the actual groove (or bore ) diameter is around .311...)
Guess you can't win them all.
Anyway, I'm more interested in peering down the bore of my muzzle loaders and the smallest one I have is around .29 caliber.

Re: Endoscope
As soon as I read the first post I ordered one from Amazon, and the Post Office actually delivers for them
on Sundays. Anyway, got it yesterday and it's a fun toy. Checked my .22s, no problem going in my old
Savage single-shot kids gun and my Mossberg Chuckster magnum, but my old J.C. Higgins semi is so snug that if I forced
it in, it may never come back out. Wouldn't go in Robert's old Higgins either, maybe too many tight-asses
down at Sears............

Peace is that brief, quiet moment in history.......... when everybody stands around reloading.
