Dutch M95 Carbine barrel extension
I've noticed several carbines at gunshows that have a short extension (1 1/2") on the end of the barrel & other carbines don't. Was this for some pre-1968 short barrelled rifle regulation or what?

These extensions were flash hiders with special bayonet lugs as used on the Indonesian converted ex-Dutch KNIL Rifle and Carbines that was done in the 1953 and 1954 at Jakarta Arsenal and other arsenals. The Carbines were converted to 7.7x56Rmm (.303 British)
Indonesian markings: a Five Point star, the date (1953 or 1954) and the calibre (7,7) on the receiver ring and most times on the left side of the receiver.

The two I've seen are carbines in 6.5 caliber and threaded for 1/2" in front of the front sight with a plain smooth 1 1/2" extension (same diameter as the barrel) silver soldered onto the barrel.
