If things were different.......

I note a wide flavor of nationalities on the board, and of course am aware of the firearm restrictions that you guys have.
I don't mean to rub this in your face, but here in the southern US, one can go out and buy just about anything without restriction and come home with it that day. (Machine guns and silencers are a little harder.)
My question....if your country changed the fire-arm laws where you could buy anything, (or if you lived here part of the year)...What guns would you buy? Would you go wild and purchase many? A specific few?
What basically would be on your must have list?

To be honest I wouldn't rush out and buy anything, I am quite happy with the stuff I have. I would like a .222 rifle but I can own one of them here its finding the right one.
A lot of people in the UK are banging on about getting .22 target pistols legalised but I would not rush out and buy one even if they were successful.
Some thing in 9mm or a 38/357 revolver I might be tempted. But all in all I am quite happy with my bang sticks and the shooting I do.

Given that scenario I would buy the following;

FAL 7.62 (SLR)

Colt M1911

Browning Hi-Power

M1 Garand

Here in the UK it is very different to the US and I do envy the freedom to buy whatever you choose .
I never did get into pistol shooting due to time and money back then so a semi auto pistol of some sort , followed by a semi auto rifle .
Then I could sit down and write a whole shopping list no doubt .

My list would be the same as Duncan's but with an M1 Carbine added. I did have a 9mm Browning and was all set to get the L1A1 SLR when the sh1t hit the fan in 1987.

Peter.

I thought I read somewhere that France has relaxed the rules on military calibres so they are easier to own like civvi calibres.

Yes Peter, but only for bolt action rifles. You still need lots of paper to own semi-auto's and hand guns :shock:
