Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party (poitical that is)

Post by Aughnanure » Sat Nov 19, 2016 4:02 am

Being one of the few places in the world where there is a gun-owners' party NSW has just had an election for the rural seat of Orange.
The Shooters' etc., fielded a candidate and he has won the seat (subject to a recount) we'll probably know the final result on Monday, but all indications are that he's the winner.

The seat has been held by the National Party since 1947, the Party Parliamentary leader has fallen on his sword closely followed by his deputy, they both resigned before they could be pushed.
The swing against their party was in the order of 34% and the main opposition party, Labor suffered a 16% swing.

The Nationals (the old Country Party) are in coalition with the Liberal Party and hold power in NSW, they seem to have forgotten their constituents as there have been some bad decisions for country people of late.

The Greens also polled very badly.

JOY!! Oh JOY!!

Not much, Duncan, as it's a seat in the Lower House and down there, because the Govt has the numbers, his vote won't count for much, but the moral victory is great and hopefully a portent of things to come.
We already have two Upper House members and because the Govt doesn't have control there they can make a difference.
It gets right up the Greens' nose as well.

Good to know the greens are unhappy about it...........

The hunters in France carry quite a bit of clout politically - the trouble is they are mostly a bunch of morons down here - if it moves shoot it - your mat, your mates dog, your dog and don't let anything get into the air...blast it on the ground
