Black powder purchase is now regulated in the same way as smokeless powders here in France. To buy it you need to produce your ID & Shooting /Hunting licence details. Image

You need an explosives licence to buy black powder in the UK as it is classed as a 'low explosive'. The good news is the licence is free and lasts for five years to coincide with the firearm certificate period. For smokeless powder and primers you need to show your Firearm Certificate to the dealer at the time of purchase.

Peter.

Yes Joe, and there is no regulation regarding quantity owned, how stored or transported.
It is, of course, a sneaky way of finding out who owns BP guns

Down here (on the real top of the world) one has to produce the Firearms Licence for just about everything, even air gun pellets.

.45 (and other calibre) lead balls are ammunition but if they have a tiny hole through them they are sinkers and not controlled at all.
