The answer to the Bacon Butties

Post by Niner » Fri Jul 27, 2018 8:38 pm

Our European members who seem to like Indian from India food might develop a taste for a Mexican sandwich called a fajita. You can use chicken or steak for meat. Either will work. You can use any kind of pepper that you like, although I like relatively mild peppers. There aren't any of those saffron kind of flavorings like Indian food.... which is good. Never acquired the taste for Indian food but Mexican food is somewhat like Indian, except tastier.

Goes good with Spanish rice and whatever green vegetable.

I think even Trump likes Mexican food.....although I got a feelings Mexicans don't like him.

Start with chicken, onion, pepper and an envelope of Fajita spices.

If you want to make your own fajita seasoning it's ingredients aren't hard to come by.

1 teaspoon chili powder.
1 teaspoon paprika.
1 teaspoon garlic powder.
1 teaspoon cumin.
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano.
1 teaspoon sea salt.
1/4 teaspoon fresh ground pepper.

You forgot the shredded cheese, and instead of salsa use pico de gallo. Steak is always better
than chicken, but that's just my opinion. Ate this all the time in AZ, in restaurants they brought the
meat and veggie mix on a sizzling steel platter in a wood holder...... so good.
Next try making quesadillas, just as yummy and are better with chicken. I miss those Mexican
restaurants, but not the summer heat.........
Am in Walla Walla this weekend and it's almost 100 deg today, 103 by Monday........
I'm not used to this anymore.......

The best Mexican restaurant I ever ate in was in Somerset Kentucky of all places.

I'm all for the simple life myself and I don't like spices or peppers - they don't agree with my digestion
I don't think Eoin would agree with your thoughts on Indian food...........

Tonight it is 'Toad in the hole' Sausages cooked in a Yorkshire Pudding with a rich meat gravy..

Duncan, as a guy who eats food with Marmite on it, why should you worry about a few mild spices?

I got a feeling those sausage are not pork sausage, right? Beef?

No, English pork sausages. French ones are mostly longer and thinner and a coarser ground meat. My favorite are pork Chipolata made with white wine............

I was thinking of this post tonight. Hickory smoked pork sausage off the charcoal grill with onions and bell peppers cooked in olive oil on a bun with spicy mustard.
