Sam Adams version of IPA
Noticed this in the grocery store today. Sam Adams Latitude 48 IPA.
The latitude is to advertise that all the Hops came from Northern Latitude 48 and a blend of US, English and German hops. It is a mild but slightly higher 6 % ALC.
Not bad. Tastes a lot like the Brit Import stuff. That "India Pale Ale" standard flavor I guess.

Did you know that about a 20 min drive from here in St.Andre d'Cubzac (where Jaque Coustau was born and is buried ) I can stand astride the 48th line of latitude!

Maybe they should dig up those grapes and start planting hops.....now that we know what latitude is best for making a prime ingredient for beer.

Re: Sam Adams version of IPA
Well it LOOKS OK!
India Pale Ale or IPA is a style of beer within the broader category of pale ale. It was first brewed in England in the 19th century.[clarification needed]
The first known use of the expression "India pale ale" comes from an advertisement in the Liverpool Mercury newspaper published January 30, 1835. Before January 1835, and for some time after this date, this style of beer was referred to as "pale ale as prepared for India", "India Ale", "pale India ale" or "pale export India ale".

It also runs 7.51 miles south of the house where I grew up in WA state.
So I guess we should have grown hops in our garden instead of corn, peas. ect.
