Mossberg Model 500 Not Liking Sabot Slugs
Back in March I bought a Mossberg Model 500 combo from Wal Mart. It came with a 24 inch fully rifled, ported slug barrel. I first tried shooting it from sandbags and it wasn't grouping worth a hoot, 10 inches at 50 yards, regardless of what type of slug was shot in it. THen I started shooting it off my elbows at 50 yards and the groups were cut in half. I've been shooting 2 3\4 inch shells through it of both foster sabot slugs, of various brands, through it, cleaning between groups and never shooting more than one group per day. But the best I've gotten it to do was a 5 shot group measuring 3.395 with Winchester rifled slugs, of which I'm finding out you are not supposed to do do the the rifling on the slug going one way and the rifling in the barrel going the other way. Any suggestions??? I'm shooting open sights and the best Sabot slug group is over 4 inches.
