The Fab Four (foto post)
Got to view and photograph some rare bird Enfield`s at the range today, these are from "The Enfield Mans" collection, and i would like to share the images with our members here.
Heres the info i got on these rifles....
"Joe working down from the top of the photo`s the top rifle which most resembles an SMLE is a SMLE No I Mk V, The rifle below it is a SMLE No I Mk VI trials rifle, the next rifle down is a No 4 Trials rifle and the rifle at the bottom of the photo is a SMLE No I Mk VI Trials rifle converted to a No 4 Mk I pattern. At the beginning of WWII there was a great urgency to produce rifles and many No 4 trials rifles and No I Mk VI trials rifles were converted to No 4 Mk I spec (in the case of No 4 trials rifles many were also converted to No 4 Ts) The distinctive low left receiver wall and the lozenge shaped relief behind the locking bolt easily identifies the No I Mk VI trials actions."

I hate Enfield Man!
Great post, Joe.
Thanks for sharing the pictures with us - and I thought my Lee-Metford Cavalry Carbine was a bit tasty!

Sadly, I still need the correct rearsight for it.... any leads gratefully received!
