If it were mine I would have been inclined to try staining the cheekpiece to match the stock.

I left it unstained on purpose Jo, I didn't want it to look as though I was trying to make it into a (T)and anyway, not all cheek pieces were a good match for the stock wood.

As for the black paint Adam, I am off to get some gloss black spray as soon as possible - just hope it doesn't run on the woodwork :roll: :roll:

Don't worry about runs Duncan a belt sander will take care of them.
