Recreating WWII in 1/6 scale
Another hobby of mine is 1/6 scale model figures [ 12" ] . This is a hobby that requires a bit of research on the internet to try and find the correct uniform not always possible which means a bit of modification or scratch building . Then there are dioramas to be built or a base to mount a figure on , the plastic figures can be improved with some painting of the face and hands to try and make them more realistic , also weathering to the uniform to dirty them up and give them that lived in look .
I started this hobby a couple of years ago so I am still learning the tricks of the trade , I started by finding unusual pics on the net and recreating them in 1/6 then photographing them to recreate that moment in time .

My version
I shall do some more later .

Looks good Dave. There's a forum at another site for modeling US military war scenes. They are a narrow focus site so they may not welcome a photo of your work...unless you throw in something recognizable as American. But they are serious and worth a look if you didn't know about it already. Here's a link to the model forum.

So...where do you get those accessories on the figures? Must be fairly expensive to make one of those scenes.

I buy most of the figures and equipment on ebay , the majority of it is made by Dragon models . There are some good suppliers in the UK and I buy bits and bobs from all around the world including the USA and Far East .
The dios and bases I make myself , a wooden base with plaster to form the earth and use natural grass , leaves , wood cuttings from the garden , and a bit of imagination on using every day items with a bit of paint these can become something completely different .
