Looks like we are on for another brood.......Mrs has been looking at nesting places in the barn today and then they are together on the main perch tonight.
Looking good!

Just caught this on CCTV about half an hour ago. Our pair have finally got around to the serious job of reproduction. Wish them well...

Just spotted in the barn. I have now discovered how to record and play back videos so will leave the camera pointing at the nest box tonight and see what happens.........

And it worked........Unfortunately the video clips are only 10 mins each but they follow on. This is a screen shot just before the Owl went into the nest box at 01:35 a.m.
So, camera was recording from midnight to 9:00 a.m. That's a lot of files to view but it proves there is still a brood on the horizon!

How does the owl know that the owl nest box is an owl "nest box" and not just a box with a hole in it?

At about 08:15 a.m. two Blackbirds arrived on the ledge and became interested in the Owl's nest box. Mrs Owl shooed them off in strong fashion!

It was built to dimensions that supposedly are just right for Owls. The hole has to be the right size, there is a small landing inside and then the box itself where they lay the eggs. I also wrote Owl House on the small door that can be used to access the box and clear out any crap in the summer.........
They obviously KNOW it's an Owl nesting box because they have been using it since 2012

Stills from tonight's videos showing Mrs, then Mr arriving with some food and finally the two of them outside the nest box ( at the limit of the IR function on the camera which I have had to enhance)
This of course means that the couple have bread and there are eggs / young in the nest box. Fingers crossed that the baby Owls are able to fledge.
