German WW II items

Post by Dutch Mosin » Mon Jan 19, 2009 3:02 pm

Found a small box in a dusty corner of my room last weekend.

Guess what.....there were some German WW II items in it.

I just thought they'd make a nice post.

First item is the "Verwundeten Abzeichen in Schwarz" or "Black Wound badge".

This badge was awarded for 1-2 wounds. Any wound requiring or not requiring professional medical attention. Cuts bad enough to produce a scar, strains and sprains and anything causing bleeding other than thorns.

And ofcourse......a picture.

Next.....some coins I bought at a flea market many years ago.

And last but not least........a plate...

The most interesting thing is on the back side though.

...and a close-up of that stamp...

I think I'll start looking in the other 3 dusty corners.

You just never know what you're gonna find.

Met vriendelijke groet,

Martin

Nice items Martin, I particularly like the plate. It prompted me to search for the manufacturers Porzellanfabrik Stadtlengsfeld A.G.

Interesting history to the company which is still producing today...

BTW why is the black wound badge bronze/gold coloured?

For two reasons Joe.

First reason is that part of the black paint has faded over the years.

Second and most important reason is my lack of knowledge on photography.
