COLOUR POPPING

I started this forum for any collecting hobby and it turned into my camera collecting and using forum. I use it mostly to keep a record of my photo adventures. Nobody but me seems to have photo adventures that visit here....but however. I have so many cameras now that I forget which is which and which ones work and which ones don't. If you have cameras and adventures you would be welcome to post here.

Start with the colour image. work on it till you get the colour/contrast etc right and save it.
make a copy of it.
Convert the copy to Black and White.
With both images open drag and drop the Black and White image on top of the coloured one.
You should now have 2 layers with the B&W on top.
Select the eraser tool, size it so you can work easily on the part of the B&W image you want to be in colour.
Carefully erase the area you select to reveal the colour image below.
When complete blend the layers together and there you are - Colour popping.

You can also use this technique to blur an image and just have one part sharp, the blurred image being on top and erased.

This is in Photoshop but I would guess you can do the same with other programmes

Ok. That seems easy enough, if you have the right software.

I think that most camera software bundles will have this kind of facility. If not, and you want to be able to do a lot with a small cost I would recommend ADOBE Photoshop Elements as a very good bit of kit for the price. You should be able to buy it on Amazon for a good price.
