Italy

I started this forum for any collecting hobby and it turned into my camera collecting and using forum. I use it mostly to keep a record of my photo adventures. Nobody but me seems to have photo adventures that visit here....but however. I have so many cameras now that I forget which is which and which ones work and which ones don't. If you have cameras and adventures you would be welcome to post here.

Hello all,

As promised a couple of pictures of our vacation in Italy.
About 4 weeks ago we drove off.
We drove through Germany and Austria before we went into Italy.
Austria is a beautiful country.
We didn’t take the easy route through Austria, but took the Fern and Brenner pass.
Fantastic views.
And then……..Italy.
It was the first time we went to this country and I have to admit we had a fantastic time.
Beautiful country, great weather, good food and fantastic people.

The smaller pictures were made with a cellphone, the bigger ones with our camera.

We went to a camping site near Lake Garda and made trips from there to the city of Verona and to Venice.
Next to those trips we went to see a couple of small, but beautiful villages near Lake Garda like Lazise, Cisano, Peschiera, Sirmione and Torri.
For the rest we just enjoyed the fantastic weather, the good food and great wine.

Some pictures:

Then we had a trip to Venice.
Venice is called the city of canals, but also the city of bridges.
I enjoyed that day very much.
Some pictures.

Rialto bridge.

Image
The bridge of sighs.
It connects the new prison(on the right) with the interrogation rooms in the palace(on the left)
The bridge name, given by Lord Byron in the 19th century, comes from the suggestion that prisoners would sigh at their final view of beautiful Venice through the window before being taken down to their cells.

And then…..the beautiful canals.

Here’s a picture of one of the small streets of Venice.
We could walk for hours through all these narrow streets and visit all the shops there.

Last but not least…..even the farmers drive fast cars here....... :loco:

I hope you enjoy watching these pictures as much as we did visiting Italy.

Met vriendelijke groet,

Martin :NET:

Wow...now that's a vacation. Just being in Venice looks like it would be an experience even without a guide to the particular sights. Very different from the run of the mill places with super highways, billboards, and fast food joints. Thanks for sharing.

 Memories of last September except we arrived from the French Riviera!
I am sure we will be back there soon, it is, as you say Martin, such a beautiful place....................... :D

Thanks for your replies.
We really enjoyed our vacation and we will go back to Italy for sure.
For me, Venice was the most beautiful place we visited.
All those narrow streets with all these small shops.
We will definitely visit that city again..................and the village of Gardone Val Trompia (Pedersoli) off course.

Met vriendelijke groet,

Martin

That reminds me of a holiday I had in the Italian Alps near the Brenner pass back in 1973 , me and a buddy had a walking holiday around the mountain roads , we came across a pill box type construction with a field gun inside it , always wondered why it was still there .
Did you do the ferry across Lake Garda , great colour to the sky .
