Mauser Model 1898

Post by Niner » Thu Sep 04, 2014 1:26 pm

Since we have been having the 100 year anniversary posts about WWI ...and since I haven't posted anything about guns in a long while....and since I had nothing better to do...I thought I'd take a few photos to show off the German battle rifle of WWI.

The GEW 98 was all of four feet long and it's ancestor in WWII lost four or five inches . But this rifle had a sleek look that the later one didn't have. And that roller coaster sight is pretty spectacular and exceeds in style all other battle rifles. This particular one was German made in 1918 and has a Turk half moon on it as it's last home of record.

Nice looking rifle you have there Robert, the G98 is one of the favourites in my collection and definitely a "keeper".

Mine is a Spandau Stern Gewehr.

Nice Gew's gentlemen, I love those rollercoaster rear sights.
