A Sighting Problem
I had a problem with my BSA Mk III .22 in that when I got an original rere sight I found that I would either have to gouge a bit out of the stock or alter the foresight so that I could shoot comfortably, the photos show the test rig to get the correct foresight height.
Crude but effective.
I'll start on the metal foresight tomorrow and will update as I go (hopefully).

The barrel hole bored, note balance weight !!
Drilling the sight hole.
Sight hole bored and the sight holder slides in nicely.
Front view, the cut to allow cramping had to be done by hacksaw, unfortunately.
More to be done but there is a range shoot tomorrow, so more next week; such as rounding the corners to radii that complement both holes, a slight taper to the body and a proper cramping screw and moving it back over the foresight base..

Nice job. I need a lathe I keep dropping hints to her indoors. With a bit of luck before the year end I will convince her. Every time I bring the subject up her stock answer is how much is a lathe OK and how much is a holiday. So lets go on holiday. Women.
Re: A Sighting Problem
You do realize that if your rifle was sighted in before, you will now have to move the rear sight that much higher also.
I am wondering if you will have enough elevation in the knob to do this.

Re: A Sighting Problem
I sighted it in using the wooden arrangement and measured from the top barrel surface to the underside of the sight holder and made the new sight base/frame to suit, tried it on the range today and after a few clicks was on for elevation at 50 yards.
All that remains is to tidy it up and spray black.
