No 8 prices
Persuing one of the other forums recently and came across a post on the No8. Seems they are a fairly pricey item in europe - two quoted prices were aound the $600USD and $900USD.
Is this common pricing ? If so can any reason be attributed to this eg rarity, desirability ?
I thought I payed way too much for mine at $400USD.

Hi I have 2 No8s one a Fazakerley one one a BSA I paid $425 US for the Faz about 5 years ago and $283 US for the BSA 3 years ago. I bought the BSA in Canada and had to pay $50 US in import fees to get it into the US I bought it at a show in Vancouver BC and at the same time bought a NoC7 like new condition matching in the crate with the cleaning rod and jags for $315. I bought them both from the same guy and dont think he realized what they were worth. I seldom see No 8s for sale as i recolect one went for about $550 on one of the auction boards either Auction Arms or Gunbroker about 6 months ago. I see them priced for about $800 or so on some of the expensive dealers sights like Joe Salter. Regards Alan Abramson
I paid £250 for my latest one about 2 years ago. Its all original and part of the Woolwich batch.
I've currently got the service sights on it for the Service Rifle class in the HARC winter league, the pics have the PH target apertures on it.

All very nice rifles gentlemen. Thanks for the information as well. Now if my wife ever finds out the price I at least have the "it was a bargain" defence to fall back on.
BTW dromia pardon my ignorance but what is the Woolwich batch ?
The only claim to fame mine has is being one of the NZ contract rifles and having one of the brass discs.

Want and need one, my oldest lad is going through his ATC shooting program at the moment and we need to get him some real practice sessions sorted! I can teach him to shoot a whole lot better than his civilian instructors will!
I am looking around at the moment, variation is due back next month so fingers crossed.

I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy!

The last two I've seen sell at gun shows here in the US have gone for $425 and $550 respectively, so I don't think you overpaid at all.

I picked up No W4 today, it seems that the woolwich batch were made up on No4 recievers and required a different drilling to get the target rear sights to fit. I also had a 20 rd SMLE mag in my hand but no camera! Wait till next time. I'll take better ppics in the morning!

Wanted to test it on the farm today but I have been treating a cold. I will have rounds down the range before sunday. I picked it up when I should have already been shooting it at Bisley.
