Here are my Remington 513T trainer, & my Stevens 416 trainer.
These were both made & used during the Second World War.
The Remington looks to have had a much longer history. It has lost its coat of blue, & the either pitted or blasted metal surfaces have been parkerized.
Both are great shooters and are in very good condition.
Take a peek.
Here is the Stevens 416;

The Stevens still appears to have its original bluing.

It has an unusual rear sight. Not the best ( The elevation peep sight holder is a bit loose on the verticle slide)

The Remington 513T is a much better rifle, with better, more conventional sights, & a much better shaped stock, but it has lost its original finish.

Here is a trainer that just started to trickle into the U.S.
It is a very well built Polish Kbks 78 training rifle used to train recruits in riflemanship before being trained with the Polish AK variant.

In the late 1970s a semiautomatic .22 rimfire training carbine based upon the AKM/AKMS rifles was designed, to be manufactured in a pilot series in early 1980s. Regrettably the ‘Talk’ series has not been adopted by the Polish Army. There were two other .22 rimfire rifles, repeaters, designed in Radom at that time, the kl.154 (kbks wz.78) and kl.153 (kbks wz.79). Although developed in Radom, these were not manufactured there, as a decision was made to move all civilian arms production from there to Wifama in Łódź.

As the photos show, the rifle has a heavy barrel, removable AK type sights, adjustable trigger, and most unusual of all is the dual locking lugs on the rear of the bolt & receiver similar to the Lee-Enfield. All bolt parts are machined from steel; No cheap stampings anywhere.
The only big gripe is the cheesy plastic triggerguard. Oh well. I'll just have to be gentle.

She is a great shooter too. Here is my target where I was sighting in the old Weaver 4x scope with post reticle at 100 yards.

We are going to have to have a target rifle shoot one of these days. Those peep sight high end 22's look like some fine shooting range guns.

there was a group buy on one of the rimfire sights that replaced that trigger guard with a nice steel one ,
