1916 Winchester 1895 Musket / Russian Contract
Another ‘Grail” rifle has been scratched off my list of firearms I want and I couldn’t be more pleased.
It’s a 1916 Winchester 1895 Musket / Russian Contract Rifle, one of approx. 300,000 rifles Winchester delivered to the Czar between 1915-1916. This rifle also appears to have been shipped to Spain during the SCW and has the Spanish MP8 flaming bomb Cartouche stamped on the butt stock.
The bluing is about 20% and the bore is dark but has good rifling. The butt stock has a spliced repair and what appears to be a rack number ( 10 ) stamped on it. The hand guard appears to be a replacement but by who or when is unknown. The action is crisp and it cycles dummy rounds nicely though I am still debating on how much range time, if any it will be receiving.

What a marvelous piece of history MT, I would have to shoot it at least once if it were mine.

Now, that is one rifle I would like to have. I have never seen one of the Russian contract rifles for sale in the UK. Thanks for showing it.

Peter.
