Finally shot a Mosin!

Post by NLMosin » Sat Jan 17, 2015 5:04 pm

Well today I finally got to shoot two of my newly acquired mosins. The M44 was great to shoot but I had a little trouble dialing it in. They wont let us mount the bayonet here at my gun club so I couldnt see if there is a difference or not. I had much better luck with the 91/30. Below is a pic of the results. I started out dead on the center and got the group far left. I started moving to the right and finally got the center on. A few more tries and I finally was hitting the mark. These are only at 75 yards. I was shooting at the edge of the target to get the middle. I'm going back tomorrow and have at it again.

Unfortunately while cleaning the 91/30 after shooting I broke the trigger leaf spring. I'll have to hunt around and find one. I will have to stick to the M44 tomorrow...

Damn this is the addicting!!

Hey Dave!!

Yea I'm lost. I heard from one of the guys I deal with at the local big box sporting goods store that they bring in two crates every Black Friday (Friday after Thanksgiving for those across the pond). He said he would let me have my pick when they come in. Got my calendar marked and saving my pennies.... ;)

Nick what you need to be looking for now if you want to stay with the Mosin Nagant is a sniper version they come scoped up they are more expensive (over here any way) but they open up a whole new ball game. loads of fun.

I have been looking for a 'real' PU sniper and yes they are expensive. I would love to have one in my hand to inspect before actually plunking down 500-700 dollars! I've read that so many are just plain Jane with an added scope.

Went out yesterday again and this time shot the 1929. It was all over the backer and we were having a hard time getting any consistency out of it. No matter. That one is for the shelf anyway. The M44 is my shooter. Took my son along and he was hooked immediately. Used a couple of hundred rounds out of my tuna can...time to look for some 7N1  ....

Now you have to get a BluRay copy of Enemy at the Gates and watch it while cleaning your Mosins.

LoL Karl!

But the movie is only 131 mins long...takes longer than that to clean all the corrosive nasties out of a mosin!

A kettle full of boiling water will sort that out Nick. Followed by the usual cleaning regime of course.
