First time out!

Post by aprayinbear » Mon Feb 08, 2010 10:25 pm

Finally made it to the range today to try out my 91/30 (1932 Izzy refurb). The only ammo I had on hand was some Russian (I think) surplus. Was shooting at about 30 yards standing. Yes she kicks, but not too bad..... and she grouped very well, just to the right of center (not sure if I need to adjust the front sight or if I am pulling the shot.) I was having way too much fun!

And what really surprised me.... I like the trigger! Mine has zero creep, although the pull is pretty heavy. I found myself "surprised" with each firing, allowing me to pay more attention to my shooting form and follow through.

I want to try to work up some lighter target loads and see what she can do off the bench! Beartooth sells some .310, 135 and 140 grain cast bullets I'd like to try.

Happy Shooting!

Thanks for the report aprayinbear. Nothing like the thrill of discovery. Next thing you know you will want another milsurp to go along with it.
