I picked this little beauty up at the local pawn/gun shop a couple of years ago, they had taken 6 in on pawn. I picked the best, an all #'s (except stock) matching 1968 model. I have always liked the looks of the Albanian SKS's from the longer stock/handgaurd, the AK style bolt, and the spiker Bayo.

Albanian SKS rifles are thought to be fairly scarce. I got one back in 2003 from AIM. What they had to offer had pretty bunged up stocks so they gave you a new unfinished Alabanian stock with it at no extra charge. Paid all of $90 for it with free shipping also thrown in. Wish I had bought more than one. Turned out later that the Albanians were only made from about 1967 to 1979 and the of a total of about 18000 made, all but about five or six thousand were destroyed.

However, just recently SOG had some listed at $319.95. Don't know how many they had but the price was less than a Yugo, with or without the grenade launcher.

Mine is a little newer than yours. 1978.

That is one beautiful SKS Niner, and yes you should have bought all you could back then. I have talked to a few collectors who got the ones SOG was offering and I was told they looked like they had been used to drive in fence posts, but as rare as they are you take what you can get. I picked mine out of 6 based on condition and rarity (they produced 570 total) and got it for $375.00. I am quite pleased with it since as you say there are only thought to be about 5-6000 of these floating around for us collectors to add to our collections.
