The Madsen Model 1947

Post by TaosBob101 » Fri Aug 26, 2005 2:54 pm

This is a nice old automatic LMG.

Fires like a Bren or CZ-26. This one belongs to MG Dealer in my aera. I always get to try out his "older" stuff". When he puts on shoots or sets up at some of the national ones, everybody wants to shoot the New stuff (AK's MP-5's HK51,SAW249,M16 things). I love the older pre-1960's stuff. I was lucky to fire this and really test it for 2 days.

Caliber's that I know it came in are : 7mm,7.65mm,7.62x54R,8mm,303,30/06. The example above was the M1947 .30calM2, sold to Chile.A lot were used in Cent/S America. Dutch East Asia,The Baltic's states, Finland,Pre-red China and a butch of others...

Was picky on ammo.(Did not like once-fired brass,150gr FMJs), did like current Korean GI Ball,Lake City (USGI) and some older FN .30 ball, we had. And has "gravity fed" mags, you have to get use to. 30 rd cap.

This one is a pre-86 Dealer sales only sample model, allowing the last MG Lic holder to pay the tax and keep in a private collection without selling to another dealer or giving it up to ATF for destruction.
