Finally got one!!!!!!

Post by Brass Rat » Sun Aug 28, 2005 12:45 pm

Went to a gun show today with an M1 and $300 and came home with a Smith & Wesson lockblade knife, a DPMS AR lower receiver, 2 SA-80 magazines, $200 and this:

It's a Century build on an Imbel receiver dated 2000. The bore looks brand new. Guess this calls for a trip to the range. Several of the parts are stamped FN so I'm assuming that it is probably one of the Austrian kits.

Are they cheaper than AR mags, or are they larger capacity?

They used to be quite a bit less than the USGI mags but since the ban expired the US ones have been steadily coming down. These mags have been performing flawlessly in my AR's so why tempt fate by changing now.

I do like the fact that they are steel, one of my Colt 20 round aluminum mags got dropped and one of the feed lips moved a bit and it hasn't fed correctly since.

I can get them for around $15 which is still a good price for the real thing. I tried one after market mag and it ended up being smashed with a brick and tossed in the trash.

Besides, they go well with the Radway Green ammo that I have been shooting.

RG mags here are about £3 each at the moment!
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy!
