1 Section 9pln C Coy 1LI 1985 Onion Mountain East Falkland. And boy was it wet!
Understrength section then only 7 of us with a lance jack as sect commdr. We were coy reserve as assault pioneer section and only had 1 gpmg. It meant we left the 84mm behind most of the time, orbat for QRF Coy was 1 84mm per pln so the sprog carried it. Yes I was the sweat 84 man then. I acted as 2 i/c /no2 on the gun and we worked as a traditional section with rifle and gun group rather than two fire teams each with a gpmg which was the current practice!

I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy!

sight on S.L.R
That rifle is not mind but i think the sights are called TRILUX?? When you get a sight picture there is just a single post that comes down from the top with a point on it , they are about 4X SCOPE. They just clip on to the dust cover . you slide the standard dust cover off then slide on the one that the scope clips on to.i was watching the owner of the rifle fit it when we got to the range toke him about 5 seconds.
If you look at the section picture in the falklands all of the rifle users have suit sights fitted, the only person that may not have one would be carrying the IWS night sight!

This is the H Coy (HSF) 3 Yorks team at North East District Skill at Arms Meet, Wathgill, in 1988. I am second from the left. Wish I still had my SLR but all I got left is my cleaning kit!
