Morte than a few of us in 67/68 had a low opinion of this rifle. Not till Feb. 68' did we see and take them in large numbers. I must note that most were new and a high yellow wood with clear varnished finish.

But... semi auto isn't the real thing.

If you ever were on the receiving end of an AK on full auto... the sound of the thing lives with you forever. Good thing they couldn' t shoot straight.

Seriously, does anyone shoot straight, or even attempt to aim, with fully auto?

The philosophy seems to be "Spray and Pray" - establish a 'beaten zone' rather than attack specific targets.

And it is possible to do great harm with it in trained hands. But you are correct that in the offence they are trained to spray an area to get close enough to use the granade.
