Tech-Sights

Post by Brass Rat » Sun Jan 22, 2012 3:58 pm

Trying out a Tech-Sights rear sight on my Albanian SKS. Haven't had a chance to try it out yet but even with the factory sights this will out shoot my buddy's AK at 200 yards.
The rifle was one of AIM Inc's $89 shooter special back in Oct of 03.

Other than the stock being beat to hell the rifle is in great shape. Everything matches except for the trigger assembly.

Pretty much doubles the sight radius. The Albanian SKS has the AK style charging handle,

I need to order one of the 1" buttpads that are available for these. The LOP is just a bit short for me,

I lost the instructions and can't remember what this is for.

Never knew there was such a sight as that. I got one of the Albanians too for the same money and with free shipping [10/10/2003]...mine came with, at no extra charge, a new stock to replace the bunged up one that was on it. Back then these particular SKS rifles were pretty cheap but not too long after AIM sold out somebody discovered that there weren't that many anywhere to be had and the prices went up a good bit in a hurry.

A quick search and the first one I come to as of the moment is listed at $425 plus $30 shipping! Who would have thought anybody would ask that much?

I got mine 5 days after you did.

Mine came with a replacement stock also but it was only about 75% inlet and was light enough to have been kiln dried pine.

I just rea the original through the dishwasher a couple of times and gave it a couple of coats of BLO.

Ordered one of these

An extra 2 inches should make a big difference.

Got the butt pad today, that's the advantage of ordering from a place that is only 40 mikes away.

What a difference 2" makes. The LOP is just about perfect for me now. Now maybe I'll be able to hit something with an SKS.
