Got to thinking about this one recently. It was my fathers old home defense gun. He got it from an old fraternity brother who was one of his best friends. He was gifted it in late 1945 or early 1946. The old friend brought it back from Europe in WWII.
It isn't pristine at all. One of the hand grips is melted a little like it had come in contact with something really hot. It has other scars to go with it. Too bad my father either never knew the history or didn't tell anyone in the family. But it functions just fine.
It isn't an issue weapon for sure. It is in 22lr and was made before the war.
The photo attached was the first header in the old ezboard handgun forum. It shows the pistol and Major Carter, US Army, who gave it to my father. The Major was , at least at the time of the photo, in the signal corp, and how he came by it will always remain a mystery.
