Trafalgar Meeting pics

Post by PeterN2 » Tue Oct 23, 2007 5:22 pm

Well, the Trafalgar Meeting has come and gone for another year. As previous years, I spent most of the time either shooting or ROing on the 200 yard firing point. The weather this year was nice and sunny both days, couldn't be better. I didn't get a really good close look at the trade show but did buy some .30-06 and 7.92mm ammo but no guns. I saw a Mk V Lee-Enfield on offer at £850 (1700 USD). I had a quick look at a L39 but had to go back to the range and it was gone when I got back. It was priced at £565 (1130 USD). One dealer had a few new No.4 Mk2 'new' rifles, one in the wrap, that he was selling for £550 (1100 USD). He sold three as I was standing there. There was a nice Rook rifle in .360 calibre with a good bore that was priced at £850 (1700 USD). I don't think that sold. There were quite a few other sporting and milsurp rifles for sale, non that I would call cheap.

I met Strangely Brown and Mr & Mrs Goblinslayer. I shot two details with Goblinslayer and I noticed he outscored me on both cards :(

I had a good time anyway and am looking forward to next year. A few pics of the activity at 200 yards.

A couple of details in action.

Strangely Brown turned up to shoot. It was nice to see him. This is my version of the picture he posted. He is the one in the hat.

We left Monday morming with a last look in Fultons. I bought some elbow pads.

A good week-end. Roll on next year.

Great pictures Peter. When I was at Bisley a few weeks back, I had a look at the rifles in Fultons. As I recall they had a couple of L39's for sale, but they were in the rack in the window and I didnt really get a good look at them. They were priced round the £500 mark. I would love to take my Springfield 1903A3 over next year for a bit of shooting.

If anyone from overseas wants to make a week of a trip to Trafalgar next year I am willing to organise rifle storage, visitors permits and some stalking and rough shooting to fill the week before/after Bisley.

This isnt for profit, I will be open book and this is in response to some friends over the pond who have done the same for me in the past!
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy!

I wish.

Nice pictures. I was there on Saturday and spent the afternoon on Stickledown shooting at 900yds in the muzzle loading and vintage breech loading rifle matches. A glorious day.
