Thai T91 police carbine found!

Yes, I wondered about the bent down bolt too, normaly the police version comes with straigt bolts, but there are also very few with bent down bolt like mine.
The bolt on the army version is different, looks cut and welded back together(nicely, that is).
The bolt handle of my carbine has some rust from hand swet, did not have the time to clean and inspect the carbine, just a quick look around, no problems so far, Sunday is range time
So the police version has a 6cm shorter barrel(42cm) than a normal T38 carbine.
I will keep my eyes open to add the army version to the collection and maybe a 30-06 chambered short rifle too

Was at the range today, testing some of my recently bought handguns. The T91 was also aboard.
I used the same realoads, my long T38s like, 129grn Hornady SP bullet in front of 17grn of N110, nice soft load, no need for higher frontsights.

All shots went to the right, noticed, the frontsightblock is a little canted. Taht explains also the pounding marks on the left sight of the post, one of the former owners tried to move the sight to the right without success.
I will try also, but if nothing else works I need a new frontsight

Carbine
Has any one seen one of these carbines in 30-06. I would like to know what they did to the magazine box and the receiver to take the longer cartridge. I'd like to have one even if I have to buy a 30 cal. barrel to make one. riceone

Chris, I got the pictures, thanks. You did a good job of showing me the details of the cuts. I have a T99 in 30-06 that I just seat the bullets a little deeper and do not have to modify the magazine. Don't think you could do that with a T38. Chris you do know that the front sight on your rifle is held in place with a cross pin? It will drive out from the right side to the left. When you put another back on you will have to move the slot in the top of the barrel a bit so it will align. Roy
I do not wanrt to remove the front sight base(two pins) just the sightblade, that sits between the "ears". The sight blade just won't slide out, one of the former owners tried with violence and made it only worth.
I tried warming, rust spray etc, nothing worked, used even my lathe to built up enough pressure, nothing moves.
You told me some time back to mill the sightblade out, and that I will do, when I have found a replacement.
