I am looking to get one of these to either make into or have as a riot gun, perhaps even turning it into a trench gun. What do you all think about these in 12 gauge as a fighting shotgun with some history?

I have a 1912 with a bent barrel that I am considering cutting down and having it bored for choke tubes.

Why is that then? Seems to me that there are plenty of more modern shotguns on the market with better capabilities and higher rates of fire but begs the question what do you need one for in the first placeI am looking to get one of these to either make into or have as a riot gun, perhaps even turning it into a trench gun

When someone is asking about a sawed-off shotgun, maybe you shouldn't question their motives.

What do you need one for is what your wife might ask if you and she shared the same checking account and money was tight. Otherwise....isn't "just because" all the reason anybody needs? Why is that then? Re: Winchester 1897
i just picked one up , its not sawed off , it is one of the shorter versions , they are highly sought after for SASS cowboy action shooting as one of the few allowed for 'wild bunch' , that was my main intent , but had that nagging itch to add the trench gun bits
