great place to keep my mosins...
I was scanning the online auctions and saw a listing for 'military crate'. When I clicked on the pic it sure looked like a cool crate, but also looked like a great place to keep my mosin collection.
I wasnt sure it was what I thought it was so I googled it and sure enough it was. They were selling for anywhere from $75-$175 dollars on the sites selling them. I bid on the crate and won. $30 was the price! What luck!. I got a call from the auction house and was told it was $186 to ship it. No way. The misses and I got in the truck at 4am and drove the 5hrs it took to get the crate. We stopped at a gun show in northern Pennsylvania on the way home which was great. There was a guy with a crate full of mosins at the show and my crate was nicer. When I told him it cost me $30 he went wide eyed. I guess I got a deal.
Here's the family comfortably resting in their new home. It only cost $50 in gas, $30 in food, $12 in tolls, $16 for the gun show...and of course 10 hrs in the truck. We had a great day and I finally got the crate I've wanted since I first saw one. I'd do it all again in a NY minute!

That's something for the collection that most people, including me, don't have. And a great story to go along with it too. Congrats.

I have had a dozen of them at one time or another, a dealer in Clarksville would call me when he had a couple to get rid of and I would haul them away. Sold all but one and it sit's in my basement awaiting it's turn to be turned into a coffee table for my "man cave"

I'd like the coffee table also. I think I'll wait until I find another one though. Dont want to chop up my only crate.
