Fires a .69 ball. I think I am going to build a piece of ship to fire it from too

Interesting. Do you plan to shoot it with the ball loaded?

I like the "build a piece of ship" idea Duncan, I think I'll suggest that to the cannoneers in our club. :D

Seems to me it would provide a controllable place to shoot from. I will photo the progress as usual Joe.

What's the odds that the muzzle blast will set the "ship" on fire at the canon port? And how do you control the recoil to keep the "ship" from doing a summer-salt when you fire it?

Why should the muzzle blast set anything on fire - it is forward / outward not sideways. As for the stability of the installation, watch and learn   :GBR:

I'm glad you chose the American "Old Ironsides" cannon kit, instead of some British cannon........

And it's bigger than it looks in the photos.

Old Ironsides • Overall Length: 14"
• Barrel Length: 12-1/2"
• Height: 6"
• Wheel Diameter: 2-1/8"
• Weight: 9-1/4 lbs.
• Caliber: .69-cal. smooth bore

It actually looks like fun.....
