Collection......

I started this forum for any collecting hobby and it turned into my camera collecting and using forum. I use it mostly to keep a record of my photo adventures. Nobody but me seems to have photo adventures that visit here....but however. I have so many cameras now that I forget which is which and which ones work and which ones don't. If you have cameras and adventures you would be welcome to post here.

Do any of the old cameras and lenses you have get any fungus growing in them? I have dug out my old Pentax Spotmatic and the standard lens has a growth in the lens. This is inside the lens, not the external surfaces. The local photo shop will not service a lens with fungus as the place they send it to will not touch a fungal infected lens due to contamination issues.

Peter.

"Contamination issues" hunh? What do they expect is growing in there... Bubonic Plague?

Here is one way to try to clean it yourself that came up with a google search. A little bit of mold may not affect the images produced by the lens in any noticable way if you don't do anything.

I got the impression they don't want fungus around their workbenches and tools. That link was a good demonstration on cleaning fungal infected lenses. Not sure I would be confident of doing a good job myself. I will try another shop to see if they can sort out the fungus.

Peter.
