I'm sorry for your loss. I'm also sorry that the medal wasn't presented before your dad's death. I'm sure you were proud to accept it on his behalf. The Greatest generation is passing on quickly and there can't be many thousands of them left. The war has been over 71 years now.

My condolences Walt, that is a very sad thing to have to report.
I must stress, however, that all those who helped to liberate Europe from the Nazi Tyranny - all the Allied forces, are honoured in the hears of those who were oppressed.
A medal is but a piece of ribbon and metal but to be forever in the thoughts of those who were liberated is to be with one of the greatest brotherhood of men. May your father sleep the sleep of the righteous................
