WINE - FAQ'S
YOU ASK EM AND ILL TRY AND ANSWER EM
Here is one to start you off!
Q. Why do some vineyards grow roses at the end of the rows of vines?
A. Two reasons are accepted. The first is that roses are very quick to show mildew which is also a major problem for vines. If the roses are effected then the wine grower can take action to prevent his vines from suffering the same fate. The other accepted use is to attract insects that are the wine makers friends such as bees and ladybirds (who eat aphids and reduce the need for the use of chemicals in their control).

Dear Sober of Down Under!
The first thing that comes to mind is "More for you!"
I would want to know WHAT it is about wine that your good lady dislikes so much. Rather than put words in her head perhaps she could tell me then I will have a serious think about it for you.
One thing that does spring to mind is that it is much better to try blends of grape rather than single varieties.

Perhaps I wasn't as clear as I thought I was. It is I that cannot stand wine, hence my second question.
Personally it all tastes like .... like ... um .... Well it's just revolting.
Still less money on wine = more money on rifles.

Woftam,
Get the 'other half' into red wines (drunk at room temperature), that way, at least that way, you'll have more 'fridge space for the ice cold beer that legend would have us believe all Australian males drink.

Native North Carolina wines
We have a number of wineries that use the muscadine and scuppernog grapes to produce some really good wines. Unlike European wines, these are produces and blended to produce their best flavour at around 40ºF (typical refrigerator setting.)
My wife and I are big fans of the Duplin Winery in Rose Hill, North Carolina and we enjoy a number of their wines.
