Arsenal refinished Springfield Armory. The receiver has the serial # 369728, which dates it back to october 1941. Except for the new stock without stamping and the NM barrel from 1950 all numbers seem to be matching.

A M1 and a M14 would be on my wish list if it were possible. You have some really tasty kit Tom.

Good photos of a a nice looking rifle. That leather sling would be the right one for the early war versions too. Later production rifles came with cloth slings as I understand it. My Garand was made, judging by serial number, in September or October of 1943 and came to me with the cloth sling. Mine is a Civilian Marksmanship purchase and a return from Danish lend lease.

A week from today I will drive to Belgium, there's an expat Brit who has a huge Militaria shop near Mons. There you can get all the original accessories to make the rifle complete

Sounds good Duncan!!!! I could tell her indoors that I was going on a wine tasting trip!!! Or better still, we could take a trip over to Robert, and if we ask very nicely, he may let us put a few rounds through his rifle!!! :D

I've owned two M1s in the past.
Now-a-days we can't own one, evil semi-auto and all that.

First one that I had was given to me by a Police Inspector.

No problem!

It's called Arsenal Military Sales and the shop is located in Rouveroy. Here's the link to their website:
