Other hobbies.... the trumpet thing
I started collecting them in the past year after I took an old trumpet out of the closet that I hadn't played seriously since I was in high school. High school was back in the early 60's. Anyway I started collecting them and fixing them up and more importantly, using them as an excuse to see if I could get back a little of a skill I had ages ago.
One I picked up recently is is Couesnon Laffeyette. It was made in France and made for the student market. Couesnon was a "name" brand and at one time was the largest maker of band instruments in Europe. They also made some "serious" instruments too.... but to my thinking not as good as the best American horns. Well... be that as it may.. Lots of bands of the marching type back then I guess and this one would have been among the marching herd somewhere. Well got this one for $25 .... total, including shipping off of Ebay.
If this photobucket upload works maybe I can give you a small sample of how it still works. Click on the photo.
Paid another $25 to take some of the dents out. After cleaning it up .... I'm proud of it.

Clap, clap, clap, clap, clap, clap, clap........ that's a lot better than I could play the drums from my youth in high school band.

Sounds good to me Robert, unfortunately I never got past playing the triangle at school.
