Political parties are not immune to bonehead moves from the end that does the thinking.

A local republican party group in Alabama was in a hurry to pick up some free graphics to wish a departing punjab a hardy harrumph and goodbye. Then the local NAACP got offended and now it's a demonstration, court case, and maypole dance. The Lawrence County Republican Party apologized Monday for a ...

Re: Military careers

Good stories, Eoin. In the US military people take many paths and end up in surprising places too. I remember a shake and bake buck sergeant who was said to be just marginally competent in Vietnam by his platoon sergeant. He later went to OCS and retired as a full colonel in charge of a brigade of s...

Re: I read it in a newspaper from a hundred years ago

Major league baseball is in full force right now. Teams are jockeying for playoff slots in both the American and National leagues. Most of the players now aren't household names. Some will probably end up in the Hall of Fame one day ....like Albert Pujols or Josh Donaldson maybe. Look where Ruth is ...

Re: Winchester Super-X Model 1

Nice looking shotgun. I only shot skeet once in my life a long time ago. A friend took me to a range and he was friends with the young guy who had managed it. I was just back from the service and the manager, as a gesture of good will to my friend and my recent military service, let us shoot free an...

Re: Can't wait!

What's the connection to a vineyard? Maybe the ball ammo is the size of a grape? Or maybe to discourage someone from carrying off any wine from the aging room?

Re: The Argus 40 620 film camera

Somebody was talking about an Argus 75 on a facebook camera page. The 40 looked just like the 75 but was more sophisticated with a range of shutter speeds and apertures, as I probably already said in this string. So yesterday I got out my Argus 40 and loaded it with some Fomapan B&W film and stopped...

Re: Can't wait!

Saw this single barrel version of what Duncan seems to have that a guy did a restore video on. His was in really rusty and crusty shape. Considering the time and effort and chemical baths I wonder if it was worth it. The soldered, welded, glued and hand made nipple seems a bit much. https://www.yout...

Conecuh Sausage night.

Smoked a cigar, opened a beer, and heated up the grill and put on some bun link cuts of Conecuh sausage. Its a local brand favorite made in Evergreen Alabama. I had a new to me Nikon L110 digital camera I got in a bundle deal with three film cameras the other day. The camera even came with a memory ...

Re: Can't wait!

Getting those mismatched nipples out might be a chore. The next problem will be finding replacements that will screw into existing threads.

Re: In the swim!

Good story. Have you thought of writing down the stories you have told here, and any others that come to mind, to leave for your family? I bet you could publish them and get good reviews as well.
