Re: D Day Remembered.
Yep. It gets noticed most years with some tv time, ceremony, etc., depending on how long it has been as each year rolls in. D day was the second front and not the first, though. The first European offensive front is often forgotten. Nobody celebrates the quick Sicily conquest and the subsequent taki...

Buc-ee's on Memorial Day weekend
Just for those of you who live someplace other than the deep South, there is this company founded in Texas that plants super sized gas and convenience stores at selected intersections with interstate highways. There is one not far from Mobile on I65 and there is one I stopped at recently coming back...

Re: So the Proxy war with Russia continues
The plot thickens. Ukraine sent some drone bombs into civilian structures in Moscow....and denies they did it. Then Zelensky makes some trips to allies asking for them to join the conflict in the future. The latest was yesterday to a conference of European countries. “I think security guarantees are...

Re: I read it in a newspaper from a hundred years ago
About 40 years ago I was a traveling salesman. One of my good furniture store customers was in Wiggins Mississippi about 90 miles from my home. Wiggins was about two traffic lights big then. It probably only had a stop sign a hundred years ago. However, in later years it did have one prominent citiz...

Re: LEE Speed
You inspired me to take out some Enfield photos in respect to the cut off. A 1904 example has the cut off in place. A 1919 model, Lithgow, has the cut off slot still visible in the probably original stock but cut of removed. A third shows a 1914 example with the cut off removed....but in a stock tha...

Re: So the Proxy war with Russia continues
I know math wasn't my favorite subject in school. I've been mathematically challenged all of my life. However, I can do basic addition and subtraction. Explain this recent account of why the Ukraine is pissed at Iran for giving Russia some drone bombs and vows revenge. May 28 (UPI) -- A Ukrainian ad...

Re: LEE Speed
If I remember right, at some juncture, the magazine cut off was considered obsolete and when the succeeding generations of Enfields were made and the cut off deleted, in arsenal Enfields, with the cut offs, had the cut offs removed.

Re: LEE Speed
Good that you, at long last, got it and had a chance to shoot it. Getting and shooting a new milsurp used to make me feel like a kid on Christmas.
