Re: Webley & Enfield Revolvers (image intensive)

Changing gears a bit, here is a closer look at the Prideaux loader. [pic]http://hooverae.com/upload/files/190509/1638517.jpeg[/pic] A good shot of the stampings. P-L is short for 'Prideaux Loader', as the earlier models were marked. [pic]http://hooverae.com/upload/files/190509/1832579.jpeg[/pic] To ...

Re: Webley & Enfield Revolvers (image intensive)

Now a comparison of two Enfields. Above is the Enfield No2 MkI**, below is the Enfield No2 MkI. The MkI was produced from 1927 until 1938. This is the standard model with the hammer spur. It was adopted as the standard service pistol in 1932. The MkI* was produced from 1938 until 1941. This model la...

Re: Webley & Enfield Revolvers (image intensive)

Moving on to the Enfield vs Webley. Above is the No2 MkI Enfield revolver, below is the Mark IV Webley. Both are chambered in .380 Revolver, the service cartridge at the time. [pic]http://hooverae.com/upload/files/190509/7682573.jpeg[/pic] The No2 Enfield looks similar externally but dimensions diff...

Webley & Enfield revolvers with accessories (image heavy)

Finally getting around to this. Time to take a closer look at the Webley Mark VI .455, Webley Mark IV .38, Enfield No2 MkI .38 and Enfield No2 MkI** .38. First, a family photo: [pic]http://hooverae.com/upload/files/190509/7253149.jpeg[/pic] A comparison of the Mark VI with the Mark IV along with box...

Wow, I wasn't aware of any competition. I actually have a number of these writeups for recent acquisitions I've been 'meaning to' post. I guess I should get around to them.

Re: Steyr-Hahn

Some of the stampings on the pistol. It's my understanding that Wn indicates 'Wiener-Neustadt', or 'New Vienna' (literally Vienna-Newtown as I read it). [pic]http://hooverae.com/upload/files/180509/1947668.jpeg[/pic] The K on a number of parts is some form of inspection stamp, and the S on the read ...

Re: Steyr-Hahn

To load the pistol, the user places a loaded charger in the guides. The clip will normally hold the action open but only if positioned just right - it's much easier to just flip the safety on to lock the slide during loading. Steyr-Hahn

Another photo set, a Steyr-Hahn M1912 I picked up a few months back. [pic]http://hooverae.com/upload/files/180509/8704612.jpeg[/pic] This pistol was made in 1915 and is chambered in 9x23 Steyr. [pic]http://hooverae.com/upload/files/180509/8789227.jpeg[/pic] The holster is a reproduction but is fairl...
