Re: 1940 BSA No.1 Mk.III Rifle.

Interesting. Thanks for posting!

The piled arms logo would be on the knox form of the barrel (under the rear hand guard). I know it sounds strange to see one on a non-commercial rifle but several have been seen on 1940 BSA MkIIIs.

At $70, that is a bargain! Congrats

Re: 1940 BSA No.1 Mk.III Rifle.

There has been some discussion recently on other boards about the BSA MkIII rifles from 1940. Just curious, does your rifle have an L-prefix? Does the barrel have the BSA piled arms logo? And it is a MkIII, not a III* right?

Thanks!

Re: Enfield .22

Any recent sightings of this rifle in the past year? I'm eager to learn more about its markings.

Cheers,
JC

Re: How about a Long Lee Enfield

Thanks for the kind words Niner. I will gladly accept your offer about the ad! I'm not making any efforts to publicize the book yet, not until it's nearly done. I am however, soliciting help from Lee Speed owners and collectors, and will acknowledge in print everyone who has helped. If anyone wants ...

Re: How about a Long Lee Enfield

Great observations Niner. I agree that the thread has gone "off topic" and I started to feel bad about driving it there...but you know what? These forum threads are conversations, and sometimes conversations end up going far afield. That's just the way it goes. I think it's OK. We can alwa...

Re: How about a Long Lee Enfield

You guys both make good points and I understand where you're coming from. But why all this talk of copyright, injury, legal defense, and so on? I don't think we're in that territory. I raised the issue simply as a matter of courtesy to a living author. I have no stake in this myself. If a book expli...

Re: How about a Long Lee Enfield

Duncan, I know you bought the book and I respect your honest desire to help. But posting entire pages online makes it less likely that others will need to buy the book. It is fine to quote from a book (even an extended quote), but this is different than posting a scanned page. It might be legal to p...

Re: How about a Long Lee Enfield

DuncaninFrance, I know you are trying to help and pass along useful information. I appreciate that you are acknowledging the source of information and recommending it. However, it's not really polite to Skennerton to post a page from his book without his permission. After all, he spent many years an...

Re: How about a Long Lee Enfield

no , with the LE I marking its definetly a Lee Enfield , the Metford marking would be be LM and refers to the rifling of the barrel more than anything else Minor correction: Lee Metford rifles were not marked "LM". They simply had the mark number: I, I*, II, or II*. When the Lee Enfield w...

Beautiful rifle!

Are there any numbers stamped on the bolt handle?
