Re: Royal Navy-specific words

I recognise a lot of those words from my RAF days.

Re: Minolta XG-M

I got a Minolta XG-M. I ran a film through it but now the winder is stuck and the shutter does not work. Probably a minor fault but will probably cost more than the camera to fix. The photos came out OK.

Peter.

Re: Yashica A

Did you use an exposure meter or just guesstimate the exposure? The photos look good. I am currently putting an Ektachrome slide film through my Minolta X500. The first slide film for about sixteen years since the last one in my Pentax Spotmatic. I am also putting a colour print film through a Minol...

I like liquorice. I used to have Pontefract Cakes sometimes when I was young but usually have Liquorice Allsorts these days. I usually get a big tub of Allsorts for Christmas and my birthday. Re: Gun law proposal a hundred years ago

Those proposals are not too far away from what we have in the UK and introduced in 1920. Approved by the Police, two references required and can be revoked at any time.

India Pale Ale

I have been sampling a few bottles of IPA recently. All seem to be OK, some more hoppy than others. The Goose IPA is brewed in the USA and imported into the UK.

Winchester P14

I got this rifle just before Christmas last year, but only just got round to taking a few photos of it. The stock has been cleaned up and the back sight is a mix of Winchester and Eddystone parts. The bolt is a replacement to the original has had the original number over stamped with another number ...

Argentine M1909 Mauser

I am still buying rifles now and again and I got this Argentine Model 1909 Mauser earlier this month. It is in 7.65mm and is all matching, including the cleaning rod and was made in 1910. The throat looks a bit worn so it has had some use in the past. I have not shot it yet, but I have some ammo loa...

Re: MORE MARMITE!!!!!

There is a memorial plaque to the Royal Scots at Waterloo that has a reference to the 'King's color' spelt the US way without the 'u' that is included in current British English. I assume this was the spelling that was in use in British service at the time just over 200 years ago. If I had been Serg...
