Well Big Brown delivered mine today and I am very pleased with it. The Transit case is in great shape, the scope is clear and the turrets work well. The stock is clean and the metal is all in great shape. The bore is beautiful and except for the scope not being a matching on it you would be hard to upgrade on this one.

Italian Garand M1D 308 Sniper
When a couple of these came up on G-Broker about 8 months ago I was hoping more would come available so when some showed up @ Palmetto State Armory about 2 weeks ago I plopped down some coin and purchased one. Early reports where mostly good but there where a couple of duds also delivered to a few customers so I waited and wondered what I would get.

Looks nice. Quite another investment I'm sure. As a .308 configuration to align with the NATO standards I suspect the same 30.06 clips work in the action with the .308 rounds and go ca ching and fly over your shoulder after fired out?

From what I read they work just fine Robert. They coverted them to 308 back in the early 60's to come in line with Nato. They took the original barrels off and removed the scope mounting block, then they shortened the chamber for the 308 round. Then they reinstalled the scope mount block and shortened the Op Rod along with the stock.
I have 2 buddies who also bought one and they both got theres a couple of days ago and have shot them. They say the accuracy is pretty good.

Watched the YouTube. Looks like yours has a better stock and even your shipping crate looks better with the paint looking right and the leather strap handles.
With that side scope I wonder if you would want to shoot with a standard 8 shot clip anyway. Just load one round at a time for range work. Wonder if the standard clip might bounce off the scope upon ejection? On second thought, I guess not if the Italians were actually using these rifles as a military sniper rifle. One round at a time with a possible M1 thumb wouldn't do for military purposes.
