WET TUMBLING SOLUTION.

This is where to ask questions and offer experiences about the art and science of ammunition building. Also observations about any acquired ammo.

That's what I was going to suggest, run the motor at full power and use belt and pulley
for gear reduction. But that looks to be your plan..........

That didn't work either so I went back to plan 1 and bought one for Christmas......Variable speed & auto reverse if wanted.

It takes a bit of learning but I think I may have cracked it.
All the media is round but I will be getting some S/S needle media next week. The drum needed some baffles so I glued a couple of aluminium rods in and they work fine. These cases had been in store for about 3 months. They were plunged into hot soapy water at the range and then dry tumbled but were extremely tarnished.

What's wrong with a vibratory jobby with corn cob media I have used one for years and never felt the need to use anything else. At work I have been experimenting using a industrial sonic bath with really good results.

Dry media will not get Snider / Martini / Webley BP cases clean Dave, trust me it won't. Don't forget that these cases have BP residue inside them. All that dry media does is stick to that and block up the cases. Also, wet tumbling cleans the primer pockets at the same time.

These cases had been in store for about 3 months. They were plunged into hot soapy water at the range and then dry tumbled but were extremely tarnished.

I have a dry tumbler and use it for my .303 & .310 cases but I am going to try the wet one next time and see what the difference is.

To be honest, I doubt I shall bother with the dry tumbler again after seeing the results of the wet one..............

Hot water with a dish washer tablet dissolved in it plus some lemon juice...........Tumbled for 1 hour.

.455 Webley, fired once and placed in a bottle of hot water and liquid soap at the range after shooting.
