WWII aircrew helmet

Things a soldier would carry other than firearms, ammo, or uniforms. Meaning equipment such as ammo pouches, bayonets, holsters, oil cans, cleaning equipment, etc.

WWII aircrew helmet

Ran into this at flea market Friday Owner was flogging it as a "Navy" flak helmet. I had brain freeze until I got home and looked it up. It is actually Army Air Corps and even with the liner etc is not worth the $350.00 he was asking. I guess watching "12 O'Clock High" was good for something!

I wouldn't be a buyer at any price that couldn't be met with a $10 bill, but some of those military helmets bring some fairly large money apparently. Take a look at IMA. Somebody no doubts collects stuff like what you saw. The problem is that a flea market in a small market probably won't be where that guy who owned it will find a customer. Check out the offerings on ima-usa.com. They don't have one like you saw listed at the moment.

Bingo...I found an example. IMA where overpriced military stuff is sold. What you got is called a M3 Flak helmet. There was also an M5 with more pointy ear flaps.
