Need to extend................

..............the butt of my new Greener as it is currently about 1.5cm too short.




I was thinking of making a solid wood piece to do this, probably in French Oak but I have also thought about using a recoil pad like the ones below.



My question is..........."How do you shape the pad to the profile of the butt as they are obviously too big to start with"?

I was thinking of using the 3a or 3b versions shown.

mount the pad
tape the bejesus out of the stock right up to the pad
have at it with a table disk sander, go slow and mind the angles
remove tape- this may take longer than the sanding
have fun

Buy a slip on, lace up one as of yore . . . keep the gun for winter shooting and wear thick clothes.
