I've got a Carcano that was reconfigured in 8mm Mauser. A definite rifle to give to the rear area Italians in Africa. I took a snap of my three WWII carbines. The British No. 5, the US M1 carbine, and the Italian Carcano. The No. 5 came at the very end of the war and saw little to no service. The Carcano was strickly a maybe third line weapon configured in 8mm and the M1 carbine was everywhere in the war and produced in great numbers.

The Enfield No.5 saw a lot of service after WWII but did see some service.
The rifle was first issued to British airborne forces in Norway towards the end of the Second World War; these were troops that were likely to be sent to the Far East for an invasion of Japan
