I read it in a newspaper from a hundred years ago

This is the place for thoughts that you want to share about nearly anything that comes to mind. Politics is ok as well. All notions and opinions are the view of the poster and not this site. Just remain civil in whatever you wish to express.

I read it in a newspaper from a hundred years ago

I still look at the old newspapers now that the WWI string has come to an end. Here's one that I know is bs....but it was on a front page of a Washington DC paper anyway. It doesn't say what blood circulation has to do with the claim but I'd like to know.

Maybe.... it could be true.... if you got 50,000 people to stand close together and had a wide angle lens you could take 50,000 photos in one second if you stepped back far enough. But that's now how it reads.

Just in case you need to film 10 trillion FPS, yes that's 10,000,000,000,000 FPS.
This article has words I've never heard before..... femtosecond?

"A femtosecond is one quadrillionth of a second - that's quick."

Klamath Falls back on December 10, 1919 was counting down the shopping days left. A tradition in advertising that has almost vanished. The internet has it down to how fast they can package and send an order. You can order stuff online 24/7. However , back in 1919 the days left were actual days and didn't include Sundays and shopping hours were limited by store hours that always had an opening and closing time. Blue laws no longer exist I'd imagine in any place with more than one traffic light.

A hundred years ago during the holiday season, with prohibition in full sway for the first time during the season of celebration, there is a sudden upswing in wood alcohol poisoning. Death tolls are being counted in all parts of the country and warnings being issued in every newspaper. In a Washington paper there is this advice if you drank some poison moonshine.

I wonder where you going to get the "good whiskey"?
Although I think you could get alcohol from a pharmacy with a
prescription from your Dr.
The funny part about Prohibition was that it wasn't illegal to DRINK alcohol.......

"The 18th Amendment only forbade the “manufacture, sale and transportation of
intoxicating liquors”—not their consumption."
